Dang Quynh Giao - Quang Tri student received the Medal of Governor General of Canada
On May 12, 2021, Ms. Dang Quynh Giao said that she had just been named by the President of the University of St. Thomas, Canada to receive the noble award of the Medal of Governor General of Canada at the graduation ceremony of the class of 2021. became the first Vietnamese student at this school to have this honor.
The Canadian Governor-General's Medal is awarded to a fresh graduate with exceptionally excellent academic achievements, the cumulative score during 4 years of study is 4.3/4.3. Dang Quynh Giao (born in 1999), in Ward 1, Dong Ha city, a former English major student of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, won the third prize for national excellent students; recently graduated with a BA in Economics and Mathematics from the University of St. Thomas with the highest score. In 4 years of study, Giao always strives to achieve 4.3/4.3 academic results in all subjects, becoming the only student of the faculty to achieve this special achievement.
Before that, Quynh Giao studied abroad in Canada on a full scholarship, studying economics and math. In the 2nd and 3rd year of school, Quynh Giao won the Prize for Economics for the student with the highest achievement in Economics, becoming a teaching assistant in Mathematics and Economics at the school. At the same time, Quynh Giao also received a summer scholarship from the Central Bank of Romania. In the fourth year, while doing research internship for the Conservation Council of the province of New Brunswick, Canada, Quynh Giao was involved in data analysis on the feasibility of green and renewable energy options.
After graduating from university, Quynh Giao continued to work as a research assistant for a professor at the University of St. Thomas, Canada to expand the topic of her graduation thesis and submit a scientific report with the following content: On the possibility of reversing and overcoming the brain drain through immigration in Canada. Quynh Giao's research focuses on analyzing whether the number of immigrants is enough in number and qualifications to compensate for the number of Canadian workers migrating to the US or not? With the above academic and research achievements, in mid-2021 Quynh Giao will be able to study a PhD-stream master program at Western Ontario, Canada. This is a master's degree program that combines with a doctorate to obtain a doctoral degree upon graduation.
