Intensive training on explosive ordnance disposal level III

On June 2, 2021, according to information from Norwegian People's Aid (NPA) Vietnam, 8 senior staff of NPA have just started an intensive training course on explosive ordnance disposal level III. The course is organized in Quang Tri province. Upon graduation, these trainees will become the most qualified demining technicians at NPA Vietnam.

During the training program, 8 trainees will undergo 5 days of theoretical training, followed by 13 days of practical training and assessment. Real explosives detonation activities are conducted throughout the training, designed to simulate challenging situations that engineering personnel may encounter. Senior Lecturer Paul Eldred said: “This course is an affirmation of NPA Vietnam's commitment with local authorities to improve the qualification of selected program staff. One of the key objectives of the NPA is to ensure that Vietnam has qualified personnel capable to deal with explosive remnants in a sustainable manner.”

It is known that 8 selected staff to participate in the training course organized by NPA Vietnam are working in NPA Vietnam's projects in Quang Tri, Quang Binh and Thua Thien - Hue. They have held different positions in NPA Vietnam for many years such as team leaders, supervisor, operations manager… Prior the course admission, all trainees have passed a rigorous test. After the completion of training course, they will continue to be continuosly observed, mentored and and evaluated for an additional 6 months before officially receiving the certificate.
